Maintaining your Soma® Safe Enclosure (SSE) isn't just about cleanliness—it's critical for patient safety, infection control, and compliance with JHACO, FDA, institutional, and Vivax Medical Corporation (VMC) standards. Adhering to proper cleaning and disinfection protocols is essential to protect both patients and staff, while also preserving the integrity and safety of your equipment.
We recommend using EPA-registered, hospital-grade disinfectants effective against a broad spectrum of pathogens. Always follow strict guidelines to ensure optimal safety and equipment longevity.
Approved Cleaning Products
Vivax Medical approves the following products for cleaning and disinfecting the Soma Safe Enclosure:
- CaviWipes1™: Primary disinfectant for frames from non-isolation rooms. Learn more at Metrex.
- Virasept: For frames from isolation rooms; effective against Clostridium difficile endospores. Learn more at Ecolab.
- Ecolab Rapid Multi-Surface Disinfectant: General disinfectant for hard surfaces. Learn more at Ecolab.
- Tri-Star AdvaCare 120 Sanitizer/Sour: Laundry sanitizer effective at lower temperatures. Learn more at Ecolab.
- Tri-Star Laundry Detergent Plus: Low pH, non-phosphate liquid laundry detergent. Learn more at Ecolab.
Important Note: For laundering enclosures removed from isolation rooms, Artemis Bio-Oxygen Laundry products must be used without substitution.
Using Alternative Disinfectants
If you're considering alternative disinfectant solutions or processes, please note:
- Any alternative solutions or processes must demonstrate efficacy against relevant nosocomial pathogens (e.g., MRSA, VRSA, C. difficile, TB, HIV).
- Disinfectants used on nets must not be chlorine bleach-based.
- Distributors are required to provide efficacy data to VMC for prior approval.
